ARFD works towards including RA CC rationale in Protocols

PanARMENIAN.Net - ARF Dashnaksutyun believes it would be more reasonable for RA Constitutional Court to confirm non-conformity of Armenia-Turkey Protocols with the RA Constitution.

"Nevertheless, the CC rationale is a convincing argument against ratification of the Protocols by the RA National Assembly," said Kiro Manoyan, ARF Dashnaktsutyun Bureau Hay Dat and Political Affairs Office director.

"ARFD parliamentary group will press for introduction of legislative changes to allow inclusion of RA Constitutional Court's rationale in the Armenian-Turkish Protocols," he said.

The Protocols aimed at normalization of bilateral ties and opening of the border between Armenia and Turkey were signed in Zurich by Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu on October 10, 2009, after a series of diplomatic talks held through Swiss mediation.

On January 12, 2010, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia found the protocols conformable to the country's Organic Law.
