Azeri media distorted PACE President’s remarks

PanARMENIAN.Net -
Newly elected PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu did not call the territories of Artsakh Republic “occupied territories”.

Members of the Armenian parliamentary delegation met with Mr. Cavusoglu to request explanation on his interview with APA.

“The PACE President said his remarks were misinterpreted by a journalist from the Azeri Press Agency,” a source in the RA delegation to PACE told PanARMENIAN.Net “Mr. Cavusoglu stated that regional conflicts should be resolved through peaceful talks, under the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group,” the source said.

Earlier, the Azeri Press Agency quoted Mevlut Cavusoglu as saying that “the Nagorno Karabakh conflicts is a major regional problem, which hampers normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. In resolutions of the Council of Europe Karabakh is mentioned as a part of Azerbaijan.”
