Davit Shahinyan wins Moscow Open tournament

16-year-old Armenian chess player Davit Shahinyan became the winner in Group B of Moscow Open chess tournament, which finished in Moscow on Sunday. Scoring 8.5 points, Shahinyan took the lead over the other participants.



In group C, Armenia’s Lilit Galoyan came 18th with 6 points. Karina Ambartsumova (Russia) is the 14th with 6 points.



Moscow Open 2010 festival has six separate tournaments: "Main tournament- A”, “Amateur – B”, “Women's tournament – C”, “Tournament D - Peers of Victory, dedicated to 65th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War ", "Tournament E -"Heirs of the Victory" (for children), “Second World Cup for solving chess compositions - tournament F”. All tournaments are held by the Swiss system according to the rules of FIDE. The total prize fund of the festival is 5 000 000 rubles, including cash prizes and souvenirs.
