Leader of AAC Iraq Diocese elected General Secretary of Council of Christian Church Leaders in Iraq

PanARMENIAN.Net - The leader of Iraq's Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC), Archbishop Avag Asaturyan unanimously elected General Secretary of Council of Christian Church Leaders in Iraq, press office of Holy Echmiadzin reported.

"The assembly of religious leaders of Christian communities in Iraq, which established the Council of spiritual leaders, was held in the Armenian Church of St. Karapet in Baghdad. The Council consists of two patriarchs, 26 archbishops and bishops, representing 30 Christian church communities, " the report said.

The Council is aimed to unite opinions and positions over church-state relations, to preserve and strengthen the Christian presence, as well as to promote cooperation and enhance interfaith dialogue.
