PENTAGON REPRESENTATIVE DELEGATION TO ARRIVE TO YEREVAN TO DISCUSS OUTLOOKS OF ARMENIAN-AMERICAN MILITARY COOPERATION EXTENSIONDecember 4, 2001 - 22:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Pentagon official people will arrive in Yerevan to discuss the outlooks of the extension of Armenian-American military cooperation. Eric Fon Tersh, the US military attache to Armenia, has informed this the «Arminfo» agency correspondent. According to him, now Armenian and American experts discuss the details of bilateral military cooperation. Fon Tersh has noted that this cooperation will probably be developed in two main orientations. First of all, this is the US financial aid for acquisition of arming and uniforms for Armenia's armed forces. And Armenia can choose the country-provider itself. So the US is not against the acquisition of Russian arming and uniforms. The other orientation of the bilateral military cooperation might be international programs for education of Armenia's military experts as well as the education of officers of Armenian peacemaking battalion at American military academies. Military attache has not excluded the possibility of education financing of Armenian peacemakers in Greek academies as well. If Armenia wishes to expand the cooperation with the UNO within the «Partnership in the name of peace» program framework, the American part «will be glad to assist that», has added Eric Fon Tersh. «The US would like to realize the programs that will promote Armenia's integration in the international security system», has emphasized the military attache. He has also noted that Washington considers Armenia as an element of the international security system.
