Georgian authorities bring new charges against Vahagn ChakhalyanMarch 13, 2010 - 12:10 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgian authorities brought new charges against Javakhk activist Vahagn Chakhalyan. The prosecution uses Chakhalyan's “Prison and political notes” book as a ground for a new criminal case. The Akhalkalaki police allegedly found proofs allowing to bring new accusations against Mr. Chakhalyan, who has already been sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment. Yerkir Union strongly condemns the new wave political repressions against Vahagn Chakhalyan. “These accusations appear as an attempt to intimidate Javakheti Armenians before the elections to local self-government due on May 30, 2010,” the Union said. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
