Armenia, Syria to cooperate in energy sectorMarch 18, 2010 - 15:45 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - During its March 18 meeting, the government of Armenia approved a proposal to sign an intergovernmental agreement with Syria aimed at developing cooperation in electric power and renewable energy sectors. According to the RA Deputy Minister of Energy And Natural Resources Levon Shahverdyan, the two countries will sign a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at most centralized and versatile usage of existing capacity. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision. Kerobyan has said that for the first time in the history of Armenia, the volume of foreign direct investments amounted to about $1 billion. Partner news |
