  Lebanese Foreign Minister to travel to Baku March 22, 2010 - 12:07 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - During a meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Lebanon and Syria Maher Aliyev, Lebanese Foreign Minister Ali al-Shami accepted an invitation to visit Baku.The details are not known yet, Shahan Kandaharian, editor-in-chief of Aztag Beirut-based newspaper told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. The Lebanese Foreign Ministry said recently that official Beirut supports territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Meanwhile, Minister al-Shami told Armenian Ambassador in Beirut, Ashot Kocharian, that Lebanon's position on Karabakh conflict has not changed.    The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army. Armenia and Azerbaijan are holding peace talks mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group up till now.
