Vahagn Chakhalyan again beaten in Rustavi prisonMay 7, 2010 - 20:53 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On April 30, Javakheti politician Vahagn Chakhalyan, who was sentenced by Georgian court to 10 years of imprisonment on fabricated charges, was beaten by guards of Rustavi prison, where Chakhalyan is currently serving his sentence. The incident took place after Vahagn Chakhalyan’s meeting with his relatives. The guards, accompanying Chakhalyan to his cell, started insulting the politician due to unknown reasons. Meanwhile, Chakhalyan’s answers to their insults were followed by application of force against him, a representative of Yerkir Union told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. Chakhalyan did not want to tell his relatives about the incident and refrained from medical aid. The politician disclosed details of the incident to his lawyer. This is the second similar incident with Chakhalyan. Last time he was beaten on April 16, 2009. And it was supposed that a rally in front of the Georgian embassy in France served as a reason for that incident. The rally was organized by Armenian organizations of France in support of the Javakheti politician.
