In the report, the Azeri leadership is accused of denial to fulfill its obligations to the EU regarding conducting democratic reforms and particularly the availability of political prisoners in the country. Besides, the document informs of the appearance of new political prisoners as well as of the courts remaining dependent on the executive power. Clerfight's report will be brought to PACE session discussion June 23-24. "If official Baku continues refusing from meeting its engagements to the EU, it will face great hardship", - the PACE source stated. It should be noted that the report possessed item concerning head of the Azeri delegation in PACE Ilham Aliyev, where the latter is blamed for non-sufficient cooperation with the Assembly for the fulfillment the obligations to the EU. All the attempts to exclude this item from the document failed. The only thing Azerbaijan representatives managed to do was the exclusion of Ilham Aliyev's name mentioning, thus extenuating the criticism.
