Levon Zurabyan: ANC intends to apply to international institutionsJune 1, 2010 - 17:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Coordinator of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Levon Zurabyan said that the number of political prisoners amounted to 17 in Armenia. “On May 31, three people were arrested: journalist of Haykakan Zhamanak paper Ani Gevorgyan, her brother Sargis Gevorgyan and David Kiramidjyan,” Zurabyan told a press conference in Yerevan. He added that activist Vardges Gaspari and his allies were trying for three days to organize a protest action at Azatutyan Square. According to Zurabyan, though the action was not an ANC initiative, many activists of the Congress participated in it and their rights were violated. “We are going to provide them with political, moral and legal assistance. Specifically, we are assisting them with taking the needed legal steps in such situations,” said Zurabyan, adding that the ANC is going to raise the issue also in international institutions. He stated that the recent developments prove that a police regime is established in the country.
