Ukraine and Turkey to create interstate strategic council

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said after his meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul that Ukraine and Turkey will create a high-level interstate strategic council.

Mr. Yanukovych added that the council will be headed by the Turkish Prime Minister and Ukrainian President.

Besides, the sides agreed that the Turkish Prime Minister will pay an official visit to Ukraine soon. According to Yanukovych, there is a range of issues, on which it is necessary to intensify relations, specifically, to take action on involvement of the two countries’ businessmen.

The sides also discussed cooperation in oil and gas extraction in the Black Sea shelf.

"This is also an interesting issue. I believe that before the Turkish Prime Minister's arrival to Ukraine, our inter-governmental group will work out proposals, what will give us a chance to diversify energy supplies," said Yanukovych, RIA Novosti reported.
