Turkey must immediately end its illegal blockade of Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - On June 24, Haik Youth and Students’ Union of Heritage Party of Armenia disseminated a statement concerning Turkey’s active operations towards the unblocking of Gaza Strip.

“We likewise find that the people of Gaza have the right to freely communicate with the outside world and have open borders. It is suspicious, however, that it is Turkey which fights for the unblocking of Gaza’s borders. As it is known, this country has closed its borders with Armenia in 1993 and, with the silent indifference of the international community, still keeps Armenia under a blockade,” the statement reads.

The Union called on European, American, and other international peace organizations to hold a large-scale march with the aim of forming a Caravan for Peace that will be loaded with humanitarian goods. The starting point of this Caravan will be Athens, Greece, and, following the Istanbul-Kars-Gyumri route, it will deliver symbolic help to the most needy in Armenia’s 1988 earthquake zone.

“Turkey, which fights for the lifting of the embargo on Gaza and sends its own caravan for peace to this strip, must immediately end its own illegal blockade of Armenia and open its borders before the Caravan for Peace,” the statement reads.
