Azerbaijan unripe for 21 century war

PanARMENIAN.Net - Despite warlike statements by President Ilham Aliyev, chaos has reigned in the Azerbaijani army for many years, director of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies said.

“The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has already spent about $2bln in an armament race, making the country most menacing in the region. On the other hand, to maintain power the Azeri leadership doesn’t want the army to strengthen,” Richard Giragosian told a news conference on July 6.

“Unlike Azerbaijan, which lives in the past, Armenia is ready for the future. Baku is unripe for a 21 century war,” he said.
