Aharon Adibekyan: Armenia has to withdraw from Karabakh negotiation processJuly 29, 2010 - 15:11 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has to withdraw from Karabakh negotiation process, to enable NKR and Azerbaijan to resolve the issue between themselves, according to the head of Sociometer center Aharon Adibekyan . “Withdrawal from negotiation process will alter Armenia’s image of an “aggressor”, also offering Karabakh a possibility to make own decisions on its fate,” Aharon Adibekyan stated at news conference in Yerevan. “In this case, Karabakh conflict will be regarded as an internal issue to be negotiated between NKR and Azerbaijan, with Armenia acting as Artsakh population security guarantor.” In reply to PanARMENIAN.Net reporter’s question on Armenia’s right to guarantee NKR population safety in the case indicated, Aharon Adibekyan stated, “There was a time when Azerbaijan committed acts of ethnic cleansing in Karabakh, so Armenia is entitled to the right to become Artsakh security guarantor in the course of talks.” As he noted, the position expressed would be acceptable to Karabakh population. “NKR cannot be a part of Azerbaijan,” Adibekyan stressed, adding “it’s impossible for “Ilhamat” and NKR to coexist in the framework of one state.” Top stories President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova.
