Computer games championship launched in YerevanAugust 21, 2010 - 14:55 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian computer games championship, hosting 80 gamers aged 14-16, was launched in Yerevan on August 21. As head of Armenia’s professional cybersport league, Edgar Sahakyan, told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, parents’ written permission was required to register underage participants. “Cybersport helps IT progress, gaining importance in view of current technology requirements. Besides, computer game culture, as one of the modern entertainment types should also be developed,” Sahakyan concluded. FIFA 10 and TrackMania Nations Forever were chosen as main competition games for the championship. The prize fund of the championship is AMD 600 thousand, which will be divided between the top three winners. The winners will participate in the finals of World Cyber Games due in Los Angeles between September 30 and October 3.
