Over 5000 people visited Hill of Honor within 2 daysAugust 23, 2010 - 11:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Over 5000 people visited the Hill of Honor in Gyumri within 2 days after its opening. The site commemorates 156 Russian army officers who were killed in Russian-Turkish wars during the 19th century. The idea to reconstruct the memorial belongs to Russian Ambassador to Armenia Vyacheslav Kovalenko. The project implemented with assistance of Ulyanovsk region of the Russian Federation is coordinated by a working group headed by Andranik Nikoghosyan, President of All-Armenian International Youth Center. “The Hill of Honor and other commemorative signs in your country are the evidence of gratitude of the Armenian people to their Russian brothers,” Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill said during his visit to Armenia in March 2010.
