Arstakh President continues meetings in LebanonAugust 24, 2010 - 11:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On August 23, President of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan visited Patriarchate of the Armenian Catholic Church located in Beirut where he met Armenian Catholic Patriarch Nerses Bedros XIX, supreme hierarchs of church and representatives of the Armenian community to discuss Motherland-Diaspora relations as well as domestic and foreign policy issues. Mr. Sahakyan stressed the importance of strengthening ties within Diaspora and hailed the endeavors of the Armenian Catholic Church for proper functioning of Armenian cultural and educational centers in Diaspora, particularly in Lebanon. The Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict settlement process was also in the focus of the meeting, attended by Adviser to the President of the Artsakh Republic Armen Isagoulov, minister of education and science Vladik Khachatryan, head of the Central Information Department of the Office of the Artsakh Republic President David Babayan, permanent representative of the Artsakh Republic in the Middle East Karo Kebabjyan, as well as ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Lebanon Ashot Kocharyan. On the same day, President Sahakyan held a press conference where he briefed on the socioeconomic development of the Artsakh Republic, Karabakh talks and Artsakh-Diaspora ties. On August 24, Bako Sahakyan met representatives of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s Lebanese branch headed by its chairman Sargis Armenyan, reported the Central Information Department of the Office of the Artsakh Republic President.
