Alexander Manasyan: Armenia can draft such resolution, which will rather complicate Azerbaijan’s situation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Political analyst Alexander Manasyan said that one should not overestimate or underestimate the resolution on the so-called “occupied territories” submitted by Azerbaijan to the UN General Assembly.

Azerbaijan has drafted such a package, which is acceptable for international institutions, Manasyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

He believes that Armenia can draft a more influential resolution, which will be acceptable almost for everybody.

Manasyan noted that Armenia can offer the following variant for the conflict resolution: the parties should liberate the territories, which do not belong to them under the international law. “Karabakh’s recognition by Azerbaijan is a political act, but not a legal one. From the legal point of view, Azerbaijan is an occupant, but not Armenia, as, under the Treaty of Kars, Nakhichevan does not belong to Azerbaijan. Consequently, if we offer a relevant resolution, Azerbaijan will be in a rather complicate situation,” concluded Manasyan.
