Russia most reliable partner for Armenia, Communist Party leader saysSeptember 16, 2010 - 15:56 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Leader of the Communist Party of Armenia Ruben Tovmasyan said that extension of terms of the Russian military base deployment in Armenia proceeds from both Yerevan and Moscow’s interests. He also emphasized that Russia is the most reliable partner for Armenia. As to possible sale of S 300 missiles to Azerbaijan, Tovmasyan said this will not alter the military balance in the region. Commenting on Karabakh problem, he said, “We stand for peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, on the basis of the right of nations to self-determination. However, Armenia should refrain from recognition of NKR’s independence as long as the possibility of war is high.”
