Arthur Baghdasaryan: Armenia's customs checkpoints to be re-equipped

PanARMENIAN.Net - Secretary of the RA National Security Council (NSC) Arthur Baghdasaryan said that provision of border security and modernization of frontier infrastructures are of keen importance from the point of view of Armenia's national security.

A special interdepartmental commission will submit a strategy of Armenia's border security for the NSC approval soon, Baghdasaryan told journalists.

Based on the strategy, an action plan will be developed and implemented.

According to NSC Secretary, Complex Management of Borders in South Caucasus program is aimed at improving frontier cooperation in the region. He also noted that Armenia's Bagratashen and Georgia's Sadakhlo customs checkpoints were chosen as part of the program.

"We expect that next year the customs checkpoints will be supplied with modern equipment," Baghdasaryan said.
