Medvedev fires Moscow Mayor

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has fired Mayor of Moscow, Yury Luzhkov, ending his 18-year rule.

Medvedev signed a decree relieving the 74-year-old Mayor of his duties due to the President's "loss of confidence" in him and named Luzhkov’s deputy Vladimir Resin as Acting Mayor, the Kremlin said on its website.
