Azerbaijan, Turkey to produce hand-held grenade launchers?![]() October 18, 2010 - 16:06 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation of Turkey (CICT) conducts negotiations with Azerbaijan on establishment of joint production of small arms and ammunition. Preliminary agreement has already been achieved on joint production of some small arms. Azerbaijani side and CICT put forward a proposal on joint production of hand-held grenade launchers. Currently, these proposals are in the estimation process. According to achieved agreement, IST-12,7 sniper’s weapon projected by Azerbaijani specialists, Bora-12 sniper’s weapon produced by Turkey and required in Azerbaijani army, model of shotgun pistol used in short-distance fights and special operations and multiple grenade launchers are considered to be put in joint production line to be established by the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation of Turkey and Azerbaijani Defense Industry Ministry. Several visits of staff of the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation of Turkey to Baku are expected to take place within this year in order to estimate the existing alternatives and hold discussions. In general, joint production of some weapons is expected to be implemented since the beginning of 2011. USD 1, 150 thousand contract on production of munitions for small arms and engineering devices has been signed between Azerbaijani Defense Industry Ministry and Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation of Turkey. Currently, Defense Industry Ministry is implementing the production of 5x45 and 7x62 mm bullets on the basis of CICT technologies, APA reported. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
