Six dead and several wounded in Chechen parliament attack

PanARMENIAN.Net - At least six people have been killed and several others injured in an attack on the parliament in the restive Russian republic of Chechnya on October 19 morning.

Two security personnel and a civilian worker died after militants ambushed the building in the capital, Grozny.

Reports say two attackers blew themselves up and at least one other also died.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov was quoted as saying the operation is over and all militants have been killed.

Militants struck at around 0845 (0445 GMT), attacking policemen guarding the building, BBC reported.

"As a result of coordinated actions, a special operation lasting 15-20 minutes was carried out to eliminate the militants and free the MPs and technical staff who were inside," he said.

He added that all the deputies inside the parliament were alive and safe, after being evacuated from parliament.

Russian news agencies say at least 10 people were injured in the violence.
