45 wrestlers to represent Armenia at Stepan Sargsyan tournament

PanARMENIAN.Net - On October 22-24, Vanadzor will host a freestyle wrestling international tournament dedicated to the memory of Olympic Games silver winner, World and European champion and World Cup winner Stepan Sargsyan.

Secretary General of the Armenian Wrestling Federation Bazmaser Arakelyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that the tournament will bring together sportsmen from seven countries – Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Iran, Kazakhstan, Israel and the U.S.

The tournament prize fund totals $63,000.

The Armenian team will be represented by 45 wrestlers. Chief Coach Araik Baghdadyan said that all wrestlers have prepared for the tournament with their personal coaches. “After the World Championships, the national team has not conducted joint trainings. And a new team will be formed after the tournament, which will get prepared for next international tournaments,” said Baghdadyan.
