Turkish students protest headscarves banOctober 20, 2010 - 19:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - After participating in a conference, held at the University of Ankara, Turkey’s chief negotiator for EU membership Egemen Bagis became a victim of an egg attack, organized by university students. As the Turkish NTV reports, at a time when Bagis was accompanied out of the building by bodyguards, a group of students – members of the Communist Party – began shouting slogans against the ban on wearing headscarves and threw eggs at the Minister. Earlier, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan attempted to promote the lift of a ban on headscarves. The constitutional court, however, delayed the resolution on the issue.
