Aram Karapetyan: Karabakh recognition can destabilize region

PanARMENIAN.Net - The process of recognition of Nagorno Karabakh should have been initiated earlier, according to New Times party leader.

“Now, recognition of Karabakh’s independence can nothing but destabilize the region,” Aram Karapetyan said, welcoming the postponement of the vote on Heritage party’s bill on NKR recognition.

As to the position of the international community, he noted that it sees the possibility of conflict resolution through “territories in exchange of interim status” formula.

For his part, Artak Zakaryan, member of the Republican Party of Armenia, agreed that recognition of Nagorno Karabakh at the moment will not have any positive impact on the settlement process.
