Rise in prices for cheese is unauthorized decision of Armenian companiesNovember 3, 2010 - 14:07 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Head of the Association of Consumers of Armenia Armen Poghosyan described the rise in prices for cheese and foodstuff in general as ungrounded. “This sharp increase in prices is by no means the result of global tendencies, as no rise in prices for milk was observed at world markets recently. The fact is that the Armenian companies set high prices to get more profit. Moreover, the owners of these companies are members of the legislative,” Poghosyan told a news conference on November 3. “To change the situation joint efforts of state agencies, public organizations and consumers are needed,” he emphasized. Commenting on ‘traditional’ rise in prices on the threshold of the new year, Poghosyan put the blame on Armenian mentality. “Unfair enterprises make use of the citizens’ aspiration to lay a rich New Year table,” he said.
