Richard Giragosian: U.S. Congress to discuss Armenian Genocide resolution before April 2011![]() ![]() PanARMENIAN.Net - There is good ground for passage of the Armenian Genocide resolution, as many of the members of the 112th Congress are pro-Armenian, according to Director of the Armenian Center of National and International Studies (ACNIS). “Those Republicans who used to support Turkey, now want to punish it. So, the H.Res. 252 will be discussed in the Congress before April 2011,” Richard Giragosian told a press conference in Yerevan. “There are two options. Either the resolution will be discussed in November or after January 3,” he said, adding that the Armenian lobby is as strong as never before. Giragosian also noted that the Republicans elected to the new Congress oppose Baku’s ‘oil lobbying’. Dwelling on the Karabakh conflict, he said that Washington has to put up with Moscow’s influence as the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair, as the U.S. lacks a precise policy in the South Caucasus. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
