U.S. to allocate $20-22mln to Armenia for development of enterprises in 2011November 15, 2010 - 18:13 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Coordinator of U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia Daniel Rosenblum said that the Millennium Challenge Corporation continues implementing projects in Armenia, while the program will be completed in the country September 2011. “During Armenia-U.S. intergovernmental committee we discussed methods for maintaining the program achievements in the fields of agriculture and water usage,” Daniel Rosenblum said in Yerevan, answering journalists’ questions on the program suspension in Armenia. He added that not all programs planned by the corporation are implemented, but the Armenian government is looking for other sources of financing, specifically, in the field of road construction. Armenian Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan noted for his part that major part of these works was implemented through the assistance of the World Bank. He added that implementation of a new program of USAID will be launched in Armenia after completion of Competitive Armenian Private Sector (CAPS) program. The U.S. will allocate $44 to Armenia in 2011, out of which around $20-22mln will be directed for the development of enterprises and improvement of competitiveness, while $8mln will be allocated for reforms in the social field, specifically, healthcare, Yeritsyan said.
