Nalbandian to participate in 2011 Heineken Open

PanARMENIAN.Net - Former world number one Juan Carlos Ferreo of Spain and former world number three David Nalbandian of Argentina will headline the 2011 Heineken Open.

Ferreo, the 2003 French Open champion, will be making his seventh appearance in the January 10-17th tournament. He first played here in 2000 when he beat a little know Roger Federer on an outside court on his way to the quarterfinals.

Nalbandian, the 2002 Wimbledon runner-up, will be playing in his third Heineken Open after pulling out of this year's tournament with an abdominal strain.

ATP Tour finalist and Auckland regular, David Ferrer of Spain, who was already confirmed for the tournament, is the number one seed while defending champion, John Isner of the US is the second seed.

The 2011 Heineken Open has a familiar look to it with all of the eight top seeds - Ferrer (1), Isner (2), Albert Montanes, Juan Monaco (4), Nalbandian (5) Ferrero (6), Thomas Bellucci (7) and Philipp Kohlschreiber (8) - having played in Auckland before, TVNZ reported.

The prize fund of the tournament is $355,500.
