According to Alexander Khramchikhin, Russian military bases in Gyumri and Yerevan are Armenia’s guarantee against Azerbaijan or even Turkey. At the same time, he noted that Turkey can be eyed as a NATO member state at a stretch, as the country almost severed relations with the U.S. “Turkey poses as the leader of Islamic world and wants to be such, maybe to make use of it in relations with West in future,” Khramchikhin said.
