Raul de Luzenberger: customs reform to encourage trade development

PanARMENIAN.Net - Increasing the efficiency and transparency of customs services is a major task of the anti-corruption strategy for 2009-2012, which is in the limelight of the OSCE Office in Yerevan.

“One of the solutions is introduction of the institute of national brokers,” Office head Sergey Kapinos said during a joint conference with the association of customs brokers.

“Our program aims at creating a platform of governing and interactive knowledge allowing to provide enterprises with professional, precise and modern services,” he said.

For his part, head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Raul de Luzenberger said that customs reform will encourage trade development.

“Control and dues in the customs system should facilitate the flow of goods but not create obstacles. Checkpoints should be well-equipped to ensure uninterrupted activity,” he said.
