As RPA secretary Eduard Sharmazanov told PanARMENIAN.Net the resolution was taken as a result of lasting discussions at the Party Council. Mayoral elections are set for December 17. Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan resigned his position on December 8. The decision was prompted by the incident between the Mayor and employee of the presidential staff’s protocol department Aram Kandayan.
