RA NAS hosts elections of academicians and corresponding membersDecember 28, 2010 - 21:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On December 27-28, the RA National Academy of Sciences (NAS) hosted elections of academicians and corresponding members. The elections were held in five scientific departments of the NAS: mathematics and technical sciences; physics and astrophysics; natural sciences; chemistry and geology; Armenian studies and social sciences. According to the RA NAS press service, pro-rector of Yerevan State University, corresponding member of the RA NAS Gegham Gevorgyan (mathematics), secretary academician of the RA NAS Aram Shahinyan (chemistry), Director of the Biotechnological Scientific Research Institute, corresponding member of the RA NAS Ashot Saghyan (biotechnologies) and rector of the State Economic University of Armenia, Doctor of Economics, Professor Yuri Suvaryan (economy) were elected academicians. Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the RA NAS, Professor Ruben Safrastyan, as well as Doctor of Philology, Professor, head of the Department of Armenian Literature and Methodology at the State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovian Aelita Dolukhanyan became corresponding members of the RA NAS.
