One of participants in New Year scuffle in Ijevan military unit died

PanARMENIAN.Net - By decision of Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, the commander of a military unit in Ijevan, Sergey Karapetyan, was relieved of his duties and now faces charges over the incident that took place on the New Year’s eve at the checkpoint of the unit.

A criminal case was initiated under the article 258.3 (hooliganism) of Armenian Penal Code.

The dispute burst out after commander Karapetyan and several civilians when the former demanded that the civilians should leave the unit. The young people refused to obey, starting a scuffle, as a result of which two of them were taken to hospital with injuries. Karapetyan was also injured.

On January 9 night, Taron Yengibaryan, 20, died from craniocerebral injury.
