Invented story about love between Ataturk and Armenian woman staged in New York

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish media often spread information which is not true to fact, an Armenian expert said.

“It’s distressing that Armenia media quote Turkish news reports without filtration and specification,” Ruben Melkonyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, when commenting on “To Love” performance about the love between Ataturk and an Armenian woman staged by the Turkish American Repertory Theater & Entertainment in New York.

According to him, this story seems to be pure invention.

“Ataturk had a step daughter, Sabiha Gokcen, an Armenian girl who later become the first Turkish female pilot. Ataturk’s first wife Latifa wrote in her memoirs that they had an Armenian servant for some time but there was no love between Ataturk and her,” Melkonyan said.
