Customs clearance of cars several times cheaper in Armenia than in RussiaFebruary 11, 2011 - 14:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The rate of customs fee makes 32% for 5-year old cars, 34% for 5-10-year old cars, 42% for 10-15-year old cars and 52% for over 15-year old cars in Armenia. The RA Customs Service told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that around $1,050 will be charged for import of LADA 2107 Russian car produced in 2000; $3,900 – for Mercedes E320 (engine capacity – 3,200 cubic cm) produced in 2000; $1850 – for Toyota Corolla (engine capacity – 1,800 cubic cm) produced in 2000. For comparison, around $25,000 and $7,200 will be charged in Russia for customs clearance of Mercedes E320 and Toyota Corolla produced in 2000 respectively. A similar customs policy is explained by Russia’s stimulation of local production. At the same time, the customs clearance of cars takes up to 30 minutes and is at zero rate in Georgia.
