  Maxim Vengerov: I consider myself to be Armenian by one quarter February 18, 2011 - 14:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - World-known violin virtuoso and conductor, Grammy award winner Maxim Vengerov said he thanks luck for finally arriving in Yerevan. “It is a great honor for me to be here,” Vengerov told a press conference in Yerevan. According to him, he has many friends among young Armenian musicians, with whom he has been cooperating for many years. Pianist Vahagn Papyan, cello player Vahram Saradjyan are among them. “I have traveled with these people a lot, so I consider myself to be Armenian by one quarter minimum,” said Vengerov. Commenting on the concert scheduled for February 22, Vengerov said: “Though I arrived in Armenia as a conductor, but if the audience asks, I will play also violin as an encore.” Vengerov also said he is delighted to work with the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia.
