Increased rate of drug-related crimes reported in Armenia in 2010

PanARMENIAN.Net - 1524 drug-related crimes were reported in Armenia in 2010, increasing by 23% against 2009 results, Armenian National Security Council secretary stated.

As Arthur Baghdasaryan said at the hearing of the interdepartmental committee on combating drug addiction and illegal drug trafficking, 126kg of narcotics were confiscated in 2010, with 854 people detained against 780 in 2009.

Baghdasaryan emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in the sector, urging to be more determined in a struggle against drug addiction and illegal drug trafficking.
