Paradox: some women prefer to celebrate March 8 in company of women friendsMarch 7, 2011 - 17:28 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Many women in the capital of Armenia do not consider March 8 International Women Day to be a festive occasion, the poll conducted among Yerevan women by PanARMENIAN.Net proves. The reason for skeptical moods among women might be the unwillingness if men to turn March 8 into a special day. To some men, the occasion is an ordeal or at least a bothersome duty of gifting the banal combination of flowers and perfumes. However, as it turned out, women don’t care too much about the presents. What they value is the attention. The following paradox was discovered: among women polled many preferred to celebrate the event in the company of their women friends, rather than men. The explanation is the artificial festive atmosphere which the men strive to create out of sense of duty. Still, regardless of everything, holidays are always fun, as even the most lazy and inattentive of men are reminded of the necessity to give presents to women, even if only once a year.
