Germany rejects participation in military operation against Libya

PanARMENIAN.Net - Germany said that its warships won't participate in a North Atlantic Treaty Organization operation in the Mediterranean to enforce a United Nations-mandated arms embargo on Libya.

"NATO has decided to impose an arms embargo on Libya, which could have concrete results and lead to an eventual recourse to arms. Germany will not take part in this," a defense ministry spokesman said.

The ministry has decided to place two frigates and two ships in the Mediterranean under national command, ytwhw.com reported.
