Artsakh plans to take action for food security provision

PanARMENIAN.Net - On March 29, the President of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan chaired the Security Council meeting which focused on food security as well as results of the joint command staff maneuvers of the armed forces and security structures held from February 14-18, 2011.

Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan delivered a report on food security. Minister of agriculture Armo Tsaturyan, minister of economic development Karen Yesayan, director of the countryside and agriculture assistance fund Vahram Baghdasaryan also made speeches.

Emphasizing strategic significance of safeguarding food security in Artsakh, Mr. Sahakyan noted that although great deal of work was carried out to that end there were still issues of vital importance, which require urgent and comprehensive solution.

The President assigned the Cabinet of Ministers to elaborate programs of safeguarding food security and report periodically on the process of their realization.

Defense Minister Movses Hakobyan, in turn, gave a report on the second issue on the agenda.

President Sahakyan assigned the Cabinet of Ministers and appropriate institutions, which participated in the military maneuvers, to take measures for eliminating the revealed shortcomings and report periodically on the work carried out, the Central Information Department at Artsakh President’s Office reported.
