Heritage party doesn’t rule out uniting with ANC

PanARMENIAN.Net - Heritage opposition party board secretary Karine Hakobyan does not rule out the party’s unification with the Armenian National Congress, if the latter reconsiders its strategy.

“Such unification proceeds from the interests of Armenia and Armenian nation,” Hakobyan told journalists in Yerevan. “The party mulls formation of a united opposition front that can involve the ANC as well. The new union will be open, unlike the ANC, and will have a ‘roundtable’ format.”

She also suggested that the ANC should change the strategy of its rallies, focusing on urgent problems like the uranium deposits instead of constantly demanding resignation of the authorities.

Asked why Heritage doesn’t apply such strategy itself, Hakobyan said the party pursues a different policy. “Besides, the ANC has broad experience in organizing rallies,” she noted.
