IMPORT OF EUROPEAN MEAT PRODUCTS TO ARMENIA IS PROHIBITED SINCE DECEMBER 2000

Import of meat products from European states to Armenia has been prohibited since December 6, 2000, head of State veterinary inspection Anushavan Aghajanian said in the interview to Mediamax, replying to the question concerning steps the country takes to prevent cattle foot-and-mouth disease epidemic, which is spread in Europe.

Anushavan Aghajanian didn't comment upon the possibility of re-exporting infected meat to Armenia from other countries.

The epizootic situation in Armenia is stable today, head of State veterinary inspection said. He noted that the last case of cattle foot-and-mouth disease was registered in 2000 in Amasia and Ashotsk regions of Shirak district, bordering with Turkey. --0--
