He added that the opposition’s demands set on March 17 – liberation of political prisoners, permission for holding rallies at Liberty Square, investigation of the March 1, 2008, events – are not an ultimatum to the authorities, but are needed for continuation of dialogue with the authorities at this stage. No certain terms for meeting these demands have been set. Makeyan noted that there are no discrepancies with the ANC leadership, saying that the congress unites various political forces with their vision of tactics and strategy for struggling against the current authorities.
