ANC sets 2012 parliamentary election as milestone![]() April 5, 2011 - 14:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Leader of Democratic Fatherland party, which makes a part of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), Petros Makeyan, said the parliamentary election of 2012 are a milestone for the Armenian National Congress (ANC), which should manage to finalize all the planned processes prior to it. “A relevant statement was made during a sitting of the ANC political council led by ANC leader, Armenia’s first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan,” Makeyan told a press conference in Yerevan. He added that the opposition’s demands set on March 17 – liberation of political prisoners, permission for holding rallies at Liberty Square, investigation of the March 1, 2008, events – are not an ultimatum to the authorities, but are needed for continuation of dialogue with the authorities at this stage. No certain terms for meeting these demands have been set. Makeyan noted that there are no discrepancies with the ANC leadership, saying that the congress unites various political forces with their vision of tactics and strategy for struggling against the current authorities. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
