Apple sues Samsung for 'stealing' iPhone design

PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple is suing Samsung over the design of its Galaxy range of smartphones and tablets, not this time for allegations of patent infringements, but because it says they look too similar to its own iPhone and iPad products.

Apple claims Samsung's Android based Galaxy devices "slavishly" copy the iPhone and iPad, according to court papers. It specifically cites the design of the on-screen icons as being a particularly egregious example of copying its own designs.

According to cellular-news, the lawsuit, filed last week in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California alleges Samsung violated Apple's patents and trademarks.

Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet said in a statement: "This kind of blatant copying is wrong."

Samsung is however also a major supplier to Apple for its A4 and A5 processors, as well as memory chips used in some of its products.
