ECHR may take decision on Armenian khachkars demolition by Azerbaijan this year

PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Court of Humans Rights (ECHR) can this year take a decision on the case on demolition of Armenian khachkars in Old Jugha, Nakhijevan.

The suit was filed by the National Council of the Armenians of Western Armenia. “Our legal action was accepted. We think that the ECHR can address us to clarify some questions. It’s a long process but we expect a decision during the current year,” the organization’s chairman Armenak Abrahamyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

27 thousand of Armenian monuments, churches, chapels artifacts and grave stones were destructed in Nakhijevan by Azerbaijan, as part of the government’s policy to erase the trace of Armenian culture at the site.of
