Texas ARF leader Ohannes Frankian dies at 66April 24, 2011 - 11:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Ohannes “Hovig” Bedros Frankian, 66, born in Anjar, Lebanon, passed away on April 16, at the Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones, Asbarez reports. Frankian was raised in Lebanon and studied theology at the Antelias Armenian seminary. He later studied Armenian linguistics at Haigazian College in Beirut. Frankian was a respected leader of the Houston Armenian community, serving as a deacon and choir master of the St. Kevork Armenian Church. Frankian would proudly serve as an interim priest during times of cleric transitions. He was also the principal of the Armenian school for fifteen years, and is lovingly called “Baron Hovig” by all of his students. Frankian was a founding member of the Serop Aghpur chapter of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. He was an advisor for the Dro chapter of the Armenian Youth Federation and served as emcee during cultural events and celebrations. Frankian was known as a caring person and was loved by many. His jovial attitude lifted the spirits of everyone around him and he was often the focal point of social gatherings. His spirit touched the lives of those around him, and he will be greatly missed. His family finds solace in that he will always remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He was honored in his life and will continue to be in his passing.
