Expert perplexed over AMD 5 billion price for new NPP energy block constructionApril 26, 2011 - 18:11 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The deputy director of Noravank Foundation Sevak Sarukhanyan expressed perplexity over a Russia-announced price for new NPP energy block construction amounting to USD 5 billion. As he noted at a discussion in Yerevan, Bushehr NPP construction cost was assessed at 1,5 billion; a price for new NPP in India comprised USD 3,5 billion. As Sarukhanyan noted, the absence of investors is the main danger in construction of a new NPP in Armenia. Russia is ready to provide 20% of the cost; still, the investors to finance the rest of the sum are yet to be found. The deputy director of Noravank explained the absence of investors by their uncertainty as to the economic perspectives of the projects.
